Short Matters at the Short Waves Festival 2018!

Short Matters is a magnificent film journey organised by European Film Academy, which brings the nominated short films to audiences across Europe and beyond.

The festival programme is a mainfold panorama of young contemporary European filmaking. Short Matters presents a wide section of film activities letting people get to know short film better. This time the programme shows amongst other: brutal existence of one of the Buenos Aires’ district, a seemingly carefree afternoon on a Swedish beach, complicated relations in a Romany family in the heart of Bucharest or reality of civil-war Belfast in its 70’s. This year’s programme is composed of productions from Austria, Greece, Romania, Ireland, France, Germany, Hungary, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Great Britain and the Netherlands. This initiative is organized in co-operation with a series of film festivals throughout Europe. At each of these festivals an independent jury presents one of the short films in competition with a nomination in the European Film Awards’ short film category.
When the annual cycle is complete the members of the European Film Academy elect the overall winner. This year more than 3,000 European film professionals chose „Timecode” by Juanjo Gimenez as the best short film of 2017.
For the European Film Awards 2017 the initiative included the following festivals: Film Fest Gent from Belgium, Valladolid International Film Festival from Spain, Uppsala International Short Film Festival from Sweden, Cork Film Festival from Ireland, International Film Festival Rotterdam from the Netherlands, Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival from Finnland, Krakow Film Festival from Poland, Curtas Vila do Conde – International Film Festival from Portugal, Sarajevo Film Festival from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Venice Film Festival from Italy, Short Film Festival in Drama from Greece, Encounters Short Film and Animation Festival Bristol from the Great Britain.

We’re delight to inform that once again Short Matters will appear at Short Waves Festival, which will take place from 20th to 25th of March. It will be the Polish premiere which makes the event even more special!
