We’re happy that during the Short Waves Festival 2018 there will be two discussion panels created together with the British Council.
The first one called “Film Programming” will focuse on the art of film festival programming and the role of film programmers in film industry. Is it possible to compare a festival programmer’s role to the role of a visual art curator? What trends may be observed in creation of festival programs? Is festival programming related to emergence of cultural politics? We will attempt to answer these and other questions during a panel session with guests from four leading European short film festivals: Philip Ilson from London Short Film Festival, Sanne Jehoul from Glasgow Short Film Festival, Lucile Bourliaud from Flatpack Festival and Enrico Vannucci from La Biennale di Venezia. The moderator of the discussion will be Laurence Boyce z PÖFF Shorts.
On the second panel called “Access to audiovisual culture” with Encounters Short Film Festival organizers we will discuss the techniques of improving access to audiovisual culture for people with various disabilities. During the last decade, ESFF creators have introduced program and workshop changes thanks to which their festival has become a precursor in strategies improving access to culture for the disabled. The invited guests will be: Thomas Grimshaw from London Short Film Festival, Marcin Halicki from Fundacji Mili Ludzie and Anne Gaschütz from Filmfest Dresden. The moderator of the discussion will be Emilia Mazik z Short Waves Festival.
Sign-ups for events will apply from 06.03 on zapisy@shortwaves.pl.
