Short Waves Festival after a decade introduces new festival director.

11th edition opens second decade of Short Waves Fesitval’s existence happening on the foundations of experience in making the festival and its established identity. Double one symbolises new opening and encourage us to seek original ways of thinking, abandon stereotypes and go out of our comfort zone. We have chosen this year’s motto OUTSIDE THE BOX for a reason. We enter the second decade of SWF with an urge to seek new solutions both in programming and communicating the festival to the audience.

This new way of thinking implies a phase of change. Since January 2019 Emilia Mazik becomes the new director of Short Waves Festival. Born in Tarnowskie Góry in Silesia, based in Poznań for 5 years, she has a degree in Cultural Management and in Philosophy both from Jagiellonian University in Cracow. For 4 years has been coordinating projects at “Ad Arte” Foundation for Cultural Education, an organiser of Short Waves Festival. Emilia started to cooperate with “Ad Arte” Foundation as film distribution manager, later she became a programmer & program coordinator responsible for international projects. As a programmer and jury member for film competitions Emilia had visited several dozen film festivals in Poland and abroad. Szymon Stemplewski the director of 10 years of SWF and its founder will remain as a part of the team as a concept designer and co-author of the KINO FORMA project.
