12th Short Waves Festival – Industry Program

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]An innovative industry program that is going to be presented at 12. Short Waves Festival definitely stands out in comparison to the past editions. Over fifty guests from Poland and abroad will have the opportunity to attend Q&As with filmmakers, as well as classic networking meetings at Concordia Taste: Industry Drink with Warsaw Film School and Saturday Festival Brunch. But we’re just getting started – the hybrid festival structure allows for online events intended for film industry community worldwide.

Thanks to a close collaboration with excellent partners, we have managed to prepare four industry panels, touching upon subjects that are extremely relevant in the context of the film industry facing the reality of global pandemic. Selected events will be running simultaneously at three festivals taking place at the same time: Short Waves Festival, Glasgow Short Film Festival and FEKK Ljubljana Short Film Festival. We are going to discuss in particular: the future of VR technology and dance film, the opportunities for cross-festival collaboration in the times of crisis, the educational and community-building potential of short cinema, and – the challenges faced by film critics due to an increasingly easier access to short films.

These subjects are going to be discussed by 19 professionals from countries such as Austria, Canada, Indonesia and Colombia, among others. The guest experts represent events such as Venice International Film Festival, Locarno Film Festival and Internationale Kurzfilmtage Winterthur.

Industry program partners: Austrian Cultural Forum, Goethe-Institut, British Council Poland, Warsaw Film School, Glasgow Short Film Festival, FEKK Ljubljana Short Film Festival, Talking Shorts, Be Short Now!
