Summer is coming to an end, and so we begin our recollections of what happened during this time that we didn’t manage to tell you about! The team of the Ad Arte Foundation did not sit still and visited befriended festivals, discovering new forms of artistic expression, talking, sharing our experience and showing domestic short cinema abroad.
One of our stops was Kino Susidiv. The festival showcases films from Visegrad Group countries such as Hungary, Slovakia, Poland and the Czech Republic, as well as Romania and Austria, which are linked to Zakarpattia by a historical past and shared experiences. The Ad Arte Foundation was pleased to be a partner of this year’s event.
Our representative Szymon Stemplewski led two workshops, during which he shared his years of experience working in the festival industry. The first, “Work on cinema: experience design,” was devoted to the topic of a multifaceted view of creating a cinematic experience, with particular attention to the details crucial to creating the most valuable and original cinematic situations possible.
The second, on the other hand, focused on what has become very close to us again in 2024, that is, film clubs and their prosperity. Why do we need a discussion about cinema? How do we create a comfortable environment, for such discussions? How to build a community around the film experience? These and many other issues were pondered by those attending the workshop.
Szymon also participated in a panel discussion with Radka Hoffmanova (Young Film Fest and Elbe Dock) and Sasha Prokopenko (KISFF). The conversation centered around the topics of curating and programming short film festivals, creating a complete cinema experience and uniting communities around short films.
At Kino Susidiv we also made our presence felt in film form. We showed the festival audience the “Polish Young Talents” programmed by Julia Sempołowicz! The idea behind the selection was to choose the freshest, most original and quality productions of young Polish directors, who have already made a strong mark in domestic cinema with their short films.
