Focus: United Kingdom

Short Waves Festival presents not only film competitions and special events but also a distinctive non-competition programme, which each year is enriched with a geographical-thematic focus.
This year’s edition of Short Waves Festival’s f
ocus programme will show the cinematography on Great Britain, and will be a commentary on post-brexit reality expressed through the language of film and transpiring in the motto: IN OR OUT. This time we will be concentrating on social issues and examining the subject of community – understood not only in the context of physical coexistence or common interest, but also as the space of common values. In order to create a perfect focus program, we collaborated with leading British short film festivals: London Short Film Festival, Encounters Short Film Festival, and Glasgow Short Film Festival and New Queer Visions. Besides the film programme SWF has prepared meetings with artists and film industry events – Creativity Talks organized in cooperation with the British Council. We warmly invite you to all the events!
